Rather than stick to the typical ninja game conventions of swords and shurikens, the designers at Tranji have moved in an entirely different direction and opted for the unique powers of this uncommon Billy club instead. Other than the cinematic storyline, Red Ninja's true backbone is Kurenai's Tetsugen weapon itself.
This won't be a game for the lighthearted and its themes and presentation are proof of it. As you can tell by the setup Red Ninja takes itself very seriously, and that's something that the former Opus and New Corporation members that are developing it (now known as Tranji) want to be made clear. Several years later as she enters the beginning of her young adulthood, Kurenai finally decides that it is time to payback the Black Lizard Clan for what they had done and sets out to avenge her father's death. After the ninja rescues Kurenai and brings her back to the clan, she is adopted and taught the most secretive techniques of Ninjitsu in addition to the mastery of the weapon that defeated her. What's even more surprising to Chiyome, however, is the fact that the battered girl Kurenai has somehow survived. Several days pass and when Takeda's head ninja Chiyome travels to Kurenai's home to check on her father, he is startled to discover the massacre that awaits him.
